candle makers using 4630/4786

Recommended Posts

I don't know much about making candles yet but maybe what little bit of knowledge I have may help a little until someone else gives better advice.

What type of wick are you using? If you go to candle science'website, they'll have a list of waxes and which wicks they recommend for that wax and size jar. Also, you can go to Rustic Escentuals website and they have a wick guide too. That may help.

I think (just my opinion based on the few candles I've made) I prefer zinc wicks with the candles I've made, but that's just me. You will get different opinions on here but you'll have to test and decide what works best for you.

Sorry I don't have more to offer. I'm sure someone else will chime in and give you some more advice.

I know what you mean about the zincs. I don't like the mushrooming but the candles I tested had the best hot throw with the zincs and I also like the stiffness of them. I'm not sure how you would keep a wick from doing that or if it can be done. I have candles that I bought from stores that mushroom and it never bothered me as a customer so I'm hoping it won't bother people that I sell too! LOL!

I make tarts but a few of my customers want candles. I've tried and tried and tried and something is always wrong ...can anyone fill me in on temps, wicks etc...so tired of trying to figure it out and never getting it right, thanks!!

The only way to get it right is through testing. There are no shortcuts in candlemaking that I am aware of.
