Label Redesign

Trying to redesign my labels to make them a bit more professional looking.

It won't be a complete redesign, but one that will just "upgrade" my look, so to speak...

I'm trying to figure out if I should add the words "Quality Handmade Candles and Soap" under my logo on my candle labels?

It's my tagline on my website, and I have it added to my business cards and banner, so wouldn't it be logical to add it to my labels? Or not? I'm also thinking of making my labels bigger.

Right now they are the 4"x2" shipping labels, for my 16oz  and I can't remember the size for my 5oz, but am thinking of going to the 4x3.33 for my 16oz if they fit.

I wish I had a pic of my current design.

Not sure if this PDF will upload, but this is what my proposed design will be.

Can you tell me what you think? These will be printed on Kraft brown labels.

Too generic? (the net weight and address is a generic just for a place holder affect)

(PS when I get home I will show you my current design)

I think they look great just the way they are. I like that you added your tagline into your labels. It always looks better to be consistent and your tagline stresses what the company is about or what it stands for.

I can also picture them on the kraft brown labels and they will look really good. Which brown kraft labels are you using? I like the more traditional kraft brown and the prairie gray/brown labels the best. Labelsbythesheet has examples of several kraft labels.

I usually get my labels from here - http://www.brownkraftlabels.com/ and get the standard kraft brown labels.

I made the template using Maestro and they will give me a code to print them without the watermark caution if I buy from Online Labels.

I haven't decided yet...

My current labels are also on the kraft brown, just the 4x2, but they only have my logo, scent name and weight of the candle.

I KNOW (by law/regulations) you are supposed to put your address, but since I do not have a brick & mortar, and haven't gotten a PO yet, I kind of refuse to put my address on my labels. (I've had a stalker in the past - it is not a pleasant experience, and rather frightening to put your actual physical address on things, ESPECIALLY when there are children living there)

I do however put my phone number on the bottom with the caution label, and my website and phone number is on the handouts I give out with EVERY purchase.

Speaking of website - should that also go on the labels you think? I keep debating on that as well. Maybe in place of the physical address I'll put the website? I just don't know. I hate decision making!! LOL

Agree with Candybee; I think they're pretty as they are.  Only thing is, what if you decide to start making B&B?  Would you add the B&B to the label?

I make/sell lotions, but the label is different. It does have my logo as well, but not the tag-line. And I put on those "Luxurious Handmade Lotion" with all of the INCI ingredients listed on the back label.

I don't think I will add the tag line to the lotions, and I probably would't add the B&B to the candle/soap labels.

Online labels sell the Kraft labels as well and that is where I get mine- you can still use the design just on a smaller label- I have had to do this many times! Lol

I love the design, I tend to like uncluttered labels another thing you could do and play with is add a border- I ended up doing one on my round Kraft and square kraft and it really made them pop on the product - I just have a simple black one

That black line actually is the border and would show up on the label - it hugs the label edge. It's hard to tell on the template, but yeah, I was thinking the same thing about a border... Maybe I need to make it thicker?

I love your labels Jc......very very nice.

If you don't feel comfortable with your address on the front, I don't see why you can't omit it and just leave your weight just centered on the bottom.

You already have your website on the back so that should be fine I would think.

I just measured a 16oz yakee candle jar here and it looks like you won't be able to go any bigger than 2" in height on the label.

I love kraft labels and your design would look wonderful on one of them.  Have you looked at the color of your fonts on your words "The Candle" when going on the kraft labels to make sure there is enough contrast?  That came to my mind.  And the only other thing I would do is move the 2 lines under the name of your business lightly to the left a wee bit as it's just a tiny bit off center.  I'm such a fanatic when I'm designing things.  lol....I drive myself nuts.... Is that the name of your scent, Christmas Spendor? Not Splendor?  Just wack me one if I'm wrong here.....

Hope you put up a picture of your new label on the kraft paper when done.....you did a wonderful label!

Trappeur :)

Very nice! I like labels to be simple and clean. I would just be certain that your browns will show nicely against the Kraft. I prefer the Kraft that is grocery bag color so get mine at Planetlabel.com. I got a box from Onlinelabels thinking they'd be the same (I had a coupon code) but they were a very different shade. Had I started with those, I'd not have noticed but I did not want a variety of colors as I transitioned through.

I print in black and the editorial is easy to read.

Nicely done!

Thanks everyone.

I've been using this logo on kraft labels for long time now (probably about 8+ years), but it's just time to "upgrade" the look of my labels.

I will work on getting the colors of the added words the right shade.

Tappeur - yes, the name of the scent is Christmas Splendor. That was just an example I used for the sake of putting a scent name in there.

It's still a work in progress, but I appreciate everyone's input. I will work on the centering of the verbiage as well. :)

I'll keep that in mind if I switch where I buy my labels.

Thank you!

I'd put the website there and just how do you want to upgrade your label? I think they're terrific. If I were going to change anything, I'd put a warm cozy fade of an attic interior behind your name and darken the name a little more.

Thanks Scented!

The ones in the pdf files are the updated ones, and I think I will go with the "Smaller Labels" ones. (with everything readjusted to be centered)

I can't really do much with the logo as far as design. I mean, I could, but I actually really like it as is. And if I changed it, I wouldn't do it, I'd have my niece's boyfriend do it for me. LOL

Once I get the sample from Online Labels, and get them printed, I'll show another pic of the completed design on a candle.

I appreciate everyone's input. Thank you!
