Candybee
I want to try this in CP soap. Anyone have any blend suggestions or do you use it by itself? Also, does it A&D?
Scented
Chuckle. Oh there are endless possibilities with Frank. I'm going to look at a jasmine, orange blossom and Frank blend, perhaps with a little myrrh in it too.
Noodle
I love it with myrrh. One of my best selling scents all year long. Vanilla is also wonderful with it.
moonshine
Frank and myrrh soap would be heavenly....I love that scent- but I can't help you on the soap part LOL
Candybee
I don't have any myrrh but that is one blend I want to try sometime. The vanilla sounds good. My EOs are dwindling. I have some cedar, sage, peppermint, eucalyptus, tangerine, black pepper, amyris, and rosemary left. Any idea if any of these might work with it? How is frank by itself? Can it stand alone or does it need to be blended? I also have an old FO of White Pepper and Clove that smells awesome, peppery and spicey. Would frank work with that? moonshine
Anything citrus blends great with frankBlack pepper goes well with itSo with the oils you have maybe try a test of frank with the tangerine and black pepper and see how it turns outI haven't worked with EO in some time but I remember doing a blend with the frank and lavender and neroli for a horse product and it smelled wonderful...to me anywayIt could work alone to for those that love the deep earth incense smell
Candybee
Oh thank you Moonshine! I remember your posting about your working with EOs for you horse with the skin problems. She/he? turned out beautiful. I may give the combo you suggested a little q-tip test and see if I like. Thanks!!
Scented
Definitely orange/tangerines work great with Frank. I bet with pepper that would be fabo! Amyris should work well with it too. Frank can probably stand alone. Get you some grapefruit next go around ... it's great with it too! Is that white pepper and clove one scent or two? The clove might cover Frank if it's potent, but it would be worth a try! While you're at it, try it with some cedar and sage and see what you think and then add some tangerine if you don't like it. Easy on the cedar if it's an EO and same with the sage, but more so with the cedar. Edited September 16, 2014 by Scented
Lorelei
I always make Thieves oil and add Frank to it as well. Not making soap right now so that is what I'm using my tiny bit left for.
Candybee
Oh I love the thieves blend. My head is reeling from all the suggestions! Not sure what I am going to do with the frank yet but I like some of the ideas I am hearing. I do have a little 5x orange but unfortunately it fades. So I guess I will have to wait until I can get some more EOs or just try the tangerine. I thought I bought grapefruit but can't find it so I guess I didn't get it. Candybee
I used my frank today. I was mixing some leftover patch blends and needed a bit more scent for my batch so I added the frank. OMG it smells good! I ended up using 1 part SPL Patch Amber, 1 part MW Witches Brew, 1.5 parts Peaks Patchouli, and .25 part Frank EO. Sort of a hodgepodge of patch, spices, amber and more patch with the frank rounding it out. Will wait and see how it cures. I just wanted to get an idea of how much to use and what it smells like blended. I am liking it. I think I want to try mixing it next time with some orange and more patch. Jcandleattic
Mad Oils sent some "Frankincense Tears" as a sample in my order and man, that's an awful scent! LOL Sorry! I guess I'm just not a Patch, Frank, Myrrh, etc., scent type of person because I do not like any of those scents... LOL Either that or I've just never smelled the right blend... :-/
Candybee
Is that a new scent MO has? Will check it out. So I guess you don't care for frank & myrrh either? This batch of soap gelled last night and this morning its cooled down and even the color is lighter although it did discolor to a medium tannish red the color of a clay pot. I can really smell the witches brew and amber. I can't yet distinguish between the amber and frank. I wonder if they just compliment each other so well. Anyways, its a very sultry, sensuous, earthy, patch type scent that I could picture Mata Hari wearing as a perfume. Its beautiful. Not sure if they are supposed to be used in soap, in sachets, as like aroma beads or what, but I actually put them back in the muslin bag they sent them in (it's the bag they send all their samples in) and put it back in the box. Not sure what I'm going to do with them because I dislike them so much. LOL I went and looked and this is what is says about them, so I guess they are like incense chips?? I tried to save the picture but no such luck - here's the link and description - http://www.madoils.com/collections/botanicalsandadditives/products/frankincense-tears Frankincense Chips: Frankincense is the aromatic resin from the Boswellia Tree. The aroma of frankincense is warm woody, sweet and spicy. Frankincense has been used since ancient times in religious ceremonies. It is believe that Frankincense has medicinal and healing powers for numerous body ailments. When ground and burned or burned along with a charcoal incense starter, Frankincense can be the ultimate aromatic experience. Candybee
Okay. Now I remember those. They look like little rocks. If you do craft shows like me I would take them with me to my next craft show. Just bag them up and let your customers take them if they want. At least it doens't cost you anything and you know someone else will enjoy them.
Jcandleattic
Good idea! I have 8 shows between October and mid-December. It's just a tiny sample bag, but it is PUNGENT! That little bag smelled up the entire box and when I opened it, my entire kitchen...
