Double wicking - Premier wicks

Recommended Posts

I do love premier wicks when using C3 wax. Although I'm after a stronger HT and melt pool. Will be testing premier 798 in my 3" glass jars tomorrow. I typically use 8% FO.

Can anyone tell me what size premier wicks I should use to double wick this size of jar?

In a 3" jar with C3, I use Pre790 and a 793 for heavier oils. The Pre 798 may make your jar very hot and you shouldn't need to double wick that sized jar. You may want to try tempering the wax first and/or adding a small amount of coconut oil to the wax for an 'easier' burn...hth.

Bells Bells, C-3 is known for it's great cold/hot throw. The throw you get will depend on the quality of fragrance oils being used. Keep in mind different fragrance oils may not throw well in any wax. Some fragrances smells nice in the bottle but once you test it, you will realize the hot throw isn't there. Double wicking a 3" container will make the jar too hot but of course you should test for yourself. It will also cause a deep melt pool, which will shorten the burn time/hours.

Double wicking means you will get a faster melt pool. A good hot throw comes from quality oils, cure times and what ever else someone may decide to put in their candles. Different candle makers uses different things/additives in their candles. HTH

I temper my wax which I've realised makes a massive difference especially to the appearance of bubbles and using the right wick size.

I think I developed candle nose as I was testing a lavender fragrance that I made a month ago and the fragrance throw was great!  I'm really pleased.  I'm happy with the quality of the fragrance oils I use and now discovering premier wicks I think I'm nearly there.  I live in the UK so premier wicks aren't readily available here so will be ordering some to have shipped over.  The sample wicks from Flaming candle really helped with my decision to continue using these. I also tested CD wicks but didn't like the way they burned.

Thanks for the additional recommendations 'lmc' & 'Vernie1' I will be ordering the 790 and 793.  Unfortunately these were the 2 wicks that didn't come with my samples.
