Anyone tried Peaks Coconut Milk in CP?

I personally haven't but was in a swap with someone who made a CP soap out of Peaks Coconut. It was a nice scent. Not blow your socks off strong, but not faded like so many coconuts tend to do.

She also made a lotion with it. It's a very nice scent. And that's the only .02 cents I have to put in.. LOL :)

Good luck. Let us know if you decide to try it.

Most of the coconut scents I use are in a tropical blend and end up disappearing.

The only other coconut scent I have used is Soapalooza's Hawaiian Sandalwood. You have to use it at no more than .7% or it may rice on you. The first time I used it it riced and the sandalwood notes were non-existant.

I just made a batch recently and mixed it at 1oz PPO in a 50/50 blend with Peaks Asian Sandalwood hoping some sandalwood notes would come out.

So far the coconut is coming out but only after a 3-4 week cure.

Next I am going to try AH/RE Hawaiian Sandalwood. Thats the one they bought from Tradewinds and is my favorite sandalwood.

But for now I am on the hunt for a simple true coconut scent. I love Peaks Coconut Milk in candles and M&P. Just never tried it in CP.

I've used Peak's coconut banana blast and after a cure all you can smell is banana, but with something extra - I assume the "extra" is the coconut, but it sure doesn't smell like coconut. LOL It's not bad at all, just not coconut.

Same with Coconut Lime Verbena. all I smell in that one is Lime verbena. However I did do a mix of CLV with peaks cucumber canteloupe and during the initial first week of cure all I could smell was coconut - NOTHING else - now those same bars smell like a mix of everything except the coconut. LOL (I have the pics here in the gallery I think - they are green, orange and white bars - I think it explains in there the weirdness of the way the scents were behaving at the time)

Coconut is a hard scent for soaps I think...

I give up on coconut scents in cp,lol.. I have tried countless suppliers coconut fo, most smell like a shower curtain in cp.. and have tried Peaks a few years ago in cp too, though it's better than others, it was still too light in scent for my taste. HP is the way to go with coconut scents, imo. I don't like to stand over a pot all day stirring, so I do it the easy way-just mix the batter to heavy trace with stick blender, and place my stainless steel pot in 170 degree oven. After about an hour I stir the batter, and cook a while longer and let the soap go through the gel phase. Remove from oven and quickly stir in the fo and pour in the mold. I do use full water, and sodium lactate so it stays fluid enough. NG Coconut Craze is the fo I've been using, and it sells out every time! It will go tan if vanilla stabilizer is not used. I use no less than an ounce/ppo, even though its hp. I've even mixed Soapsupplies.net caribbean coconut when I was running low. Love Caribbean coconut in lotion too! I do prefer the look of cp, and hope one day there will be a coconut fragrance suitable. I'm going to try to restrain wasting more $ testing any more coconut fo's and stick with what works and sells great.

Thanks for the tip. I may end up having to HP my coconut soap. Right not the soapalooza Hawaiian Sandalwood coconut is holding. No sandalwood but the coconut really comes thru.

The other day I got a sample of Black Coconut from Aztec and put that in some liquid hand soap I had. Yowzer! Does that smell yummy in my soap. I only have a small sample so I don't have enough to try out in CP. But this coconut smells different than others-- very sophisticated, a little musky and fruity yet the coconut is strong. Its perfect for lotion and butters I think. I may try this one in CP to.

Yw, I do this easy hp oven method if I have a fo seize too. Just stick the whole pot into the oven and gel. I refuse to rebatch,lol.. Hate it with a passion! I started to order the Black coconut yesterday from Aztec, update us if you get to soap it. I believe it has anise in the fragrance, and was afraid it wouldn't have much of a coconut smell.

I have the same problem with coconut lime verbena in cp..can't really smell much coconut in the soap and sales are very slow. Sales great in lotion though. I have at least 4 different versions or more- NG, Peaks, MS, And MC. I think I will Hp this fo next time and see if it sells better..I notice FB has this fo, but haven't noticed any soaping reviews..it is highly rated on the website though, and considering trying it.

I make salt bars using CS Coconut Lime. Not the coconut lime verbena. Anyway, the scent is great in CP and sticks pretty darn good without morphing. It can be an oil 'seeper' if you know what I mean. So I keep it a no more than 1oz PPO. If it does seep it completely reabsorbs back into the soap after its cut and cured.

The last time I used it I put in a small amount of lime EO to make the lime pop. That way I could cut back slightly on the FO and had no seepage at all. Anyway, It sells really fast for me and has become one of my favorites.

Thanks, CB! I normally only use essential oils in my salt bars, and they stick great! Maybe the salt helps anchor fragrances better. Coconut Lime would be a great scent for salt bars too. I'll have to see if I have any CS coconut lime, or maybe try some of my CLV fos in a tester. I shall experiment with my next batch:)

Skip Fragrance Buddy's Trichomania Lush Dupe.  According to the web site there is 0% vanillin.  But, my CP batch discolored to a dark brown and it smelled like vanilla to me after a few weeks cure.

I did a 2 oz. Tester bar in trichomania a while back and mine discolored blotchy brown too, and think it was a heater. now I can't find it- one of the kids must have taken it,lol..I guess this is another coconut fo for hp and lotion only..smells pretty good oob, not as sweet as my other coconut fo's.

Definite heater.  I had to take the top off pretty quickly and stuck it in front of the fan.  Caught me by surprise.

Soapalooza's hawaiian sandalwood only slightly discolored to a very light tan. I used cocoa powder to do a swirl  with it and the colors rock! Will try to post pics if I can.

I know by the name you would not think its a coconut scent but this one is. I can't even smell the sandalwood notes and in the finished cured soap I can detect only the coconut.
