Sales increase after switching to Soy wax?

Recommended Posts

I've been selling candles online for almost a year and have been using paraffin wax for my candles and wax melts.  For me paraffin wax is so easy to use and I get great scent throw.  I have noticed that soy candle sales a generally much higher that paraffin wax and was wondering if anyone here who switched from paraffin to soy saw an increase in sales afterwards.  I have been playing with the idea of trying out soy, but not sure if it would be worth it.  Thank you.

I did something similar. When I first started selling I was making paraffin candles but by then soy was very popular and paraffin had fallen out of favor. So my sales were slow.

So I tested out soy for about a year before I started offering soy candles. Truth is I really missed working with paraffin so I kept testing and ended up with a parasoy blend I really liked. Those sold really well and I was proud that I had made a really good candle my customers liked.

I say go with your gut and make the candle you want to make. Just make the best candle you can make as that is what will sell in the end.

I agree.

And be knowledgeable about your product. The more confident you are in the product you are selling, the more confident your customers are going to be in buying your product.

I work solely with paraffin with the occasional palm pillar thrown in (it's rare, but I do like the feather, quartz and other unique palms so I will make them periodically) and I never bash soy (what's the point? there's nothing wrong with soy just as there is nothing wrong with paraffin), but when people come into my booth and are genuinely curious as to why I use/choose paraffin over soy, I am able to give them a knowledgeable, fact based explanation as to why. 9 times out of 10 I will sell that customer a candle.

I have been manufacturing and wholesaling candles for more than 10 years. My current clients started wanting nothing but soy but because of the frosting issues, they now prefer a parasoy blend in glass jars. All soy in tins is fine because you don't see the frosting from the outside.

I think that says a lot about compromises clients are willing to make for the sake of appearance.
