  1. I was thinking sand. Thanks so much, I appreciate your help
  2. Hello all! I've been at this for quite awhile and have never done layered containers. I'm giving it a whirl this morning, but I don't want straight layers, I want a tilted look. Any suggestions on what to prop the containers with while the wax hardens? Thanks
  3. Just an FYI, I tried the beads from Peaks (normally use BCN), but Peaks is way closer. I've never had a problem with the BCN ornies melting in the sun (and I've been making them for almost 5 years), BUT the Peaks one totally melted. It sagged on the string, the shape warped and it was actually sticky and gooey (like when you take them out of the oven). The BCN ones never did that. So long story short, Peaks did not work out for me. Just thought I'd give a heads up.
  4. Phewww.....it was just last night. I had a bit of a panic attack, LOL. All's well this morning They must have been doing maintenance or something. Thanks guys!
  5. Arghhh...I need to work on my site and I can't even get to it. Is anyone else having problems with diyestores? I can't even get to their site. This is so unbelievably frustrating. I'm praying they didn't go belly up or something. I can't imagine them doing so with no notice to customers. Anyone know????
  6. Does anyone know if there is a dupe out there of this fragrance? I have a customer requesting it Here's what the GC description says: Citrus Cream: A fragrant fusion of tangerine and grapefruit accented by gentle hints of berries, plum and vanilla. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much!
  7. Same in Chandler, AZ. We have one whole street lined with people who jump up and down and wave their hands everytime you go by (hoping you'll stop and offer them a job). I'm not sure how they're even allowed to be there and it's sort of a given that they're not here legally.
  8. This Gold Canyon Candle plant (unfortunately for me, lol) is right down the road from me. Guess they got in a bit of trouble! http://www.azcentral.com/community/chandler/articles/2008/09/10/20080910chandlerraid0910-ON.html Just thought I'd share.
  9. While I agree that Daystar's oils are far superior to Just Scent, they also cost ALOT more. If you're just doing sachets/ornaments, you might want to go with a company that is a bit cheaper. Daystar's oils are so expensive, it would really cut into your profit margin. Just my $.02.
  10. Thanks I'm going to do a quick test run using the Epsom and see how it does. It seems to be the same size as the Sea Salt, so I'll see how it does dissolving. I appreciate it!
  11. Hi all! I'm working on a new recipe that uses salts. I've been googling like crazy, but can't seem to find a decent answer. I'm trying to find the differences in salts (other than the size/grain etc.). For example, is Epsom Salt better than Sea Salt? Do you guys know if there is a site that might compare the benefits of different types of salts? I'm asking because I can buy Epsom Salt locally and not pay shipping and my recipe calls for Coarse Sea Salt. BUT, I don't want to compromise quality. Any suggestions? TIA
  12. I hear about them too! One of my customers told me about them this summer. She was burning their tarts until I gave her some of mine She said they're not nearly as strong and they're very expensive! I think one clamshell was like $5 something. Anywho...I feel your pain. I hear about them too.
  13. LOL, that was perfect. I deleted it. Nutty. Thank you guys
  14. Thank you guys! I think this woman is just hunting for someone to sue. I don't think I'm even going to respond. Very odd.
  15. Hi all. I received this email this morning and thought I'd get your opinions. It's very weird: I lit 2 candles (each $1) on 4/30/08 9 am on top a refrig cooler, both burned some hours until they burned through their clay pot; the metal container did not burn through, but when other one turned to flame and burned down through cooler for "garbage can fire", it added to fire. My building is SMOKE DAMAGED completely. I am currently cleaning up outside, cleaning walls. Ins covered bldg, not things, so I am stuck doing it all at age 70. I love the odours involved, but I will never light a candle again inside. How do you contain these great smelling candles? to be ABSOLUTELY WITHOUT QUESTION, SAFE? Sincerely, Frankie, a grandma ************************* Okay, first of all, my candles are more than $1 and she never specifically says they're my candles. 2nd of all, I don't sell clay pots and never have. I do sell tins, but what in heavens is she talking about? It burned through the cooler to a garbage can fire? WHAT? Maybe I just haven't had enough caffeine yet, but I'm fairly confused at what in the world she's wanting. Is she just wanting to know how I make sure mine are safe? Any opinions? Thanks.
