So, I've always bought Ewax and 76 degree Coconut Oil from Soaper's choice and Stearic Acid from MMS, but I did some price checking and as of RIGHT NOW, WSP is cheaper for me because of the included shipping prices. Now I know, a lot of people hate how WSP operates: raising prices, having "sales" that don't really seem like sales, etc. etc. But I'm seriously considering buying my next batch of ingredients from them because of cost. Have you used Ewax from Soaper's Choice AND WSP...was there any noticeable difference to you? Have you used Coconut Oil from Soaper's Choice AND WSP...was there any noticeable difference to you with that? Have you used Stearic Acid from Soaper's Choice, MMS ( the sage ), AND WSP...and did you notice a difference? (I've only gotten stearic acid from MMS and was going to try Soaper's choice when I realized WSP had it for "close" to the same price as Soaper's.) Any comparisons/results you could give me would be most appreciated. For some reason, I'm most concerned about the ewax comparison, but all make me curious, and I'd hate to buy from one or the other, then receive product and really hate it in comparison to what I'm used to getting.

Thanks, Jacqui0, I read a lot and one of the concerns is it needing to have Uhhhhh, shoot! I forgot the word....anyway, an alcohol or methane or something removed and that there's no way to be SURE you removed it all, but I was thinking the same.......make CP soap out of it and then using it NOT on the body might be a cool way to go. I think you're right though people will be turned off by "diesel" and even just "used cooking oils." Then again, where I live...almost everyone is a hippie. LOL So reusing and reusing might not be a turn off to folks around here. hee hee

Reviving this thread after researching/reading. I want to start trying/making individual tarts/wax melts, etc. (any and all WICKLESS products). I was curious what Jeanie and other's results still are with the 6098 wax from dp morris? Do you still use this for tarts currently? If not, do you have any recommendations? I've never done ANYTHING with wax as of yet so need to order, but not sure I should really order a whole "kit" when I don't intend on making wicked candles at all at this point. Suggestions on wax, inexpensive (but still good quality) suppliers, etc?

Depends on how "cute" you want to go to especially since you aren't packaging these for transit to shows, etc. and are just for fun. You could buy craft punches and punch cute shapes out of paperboard to use as a hang tag. If you're looking for "cheaper," Dollar Tree a lot of times has had "labels" like Avery's that you might be able to find and just experiment with like Linda kind of suggested.

Might just have to dupe, dupe, dupe! LOL Sad about Bert though. Really sad like others on here.

Okay, looked at the two tutorials and already have questions...LOL Here I thought, container candles would be "easier," but then I see how you wick a votive, and I'm wondering if that's really true? I've read a lot about people complaining about "wicking" and "assumed" that you poured the wax over the wick and that it might move, etc. but in this tutorial from rustic escentuals....they put the wick in AFTER the candle is made. Is this typical? Also, where does one buy the "presto pot?"

Thanks Everyone! I'll start looking at the links provided...googling things, and then reading more on the forum and asking questions! Anyone else have thoughts to contribute? Any tutorials or certain threads that mention the benefits, downsides, qualities, etc. of different waxes? I know there are "flashpoint" issues,etc. with fragrance oils...do you just look on the manufacturer's site for this info. to see if you can use it in this wax or that wax OR? I think as far as finished projects, I'd like to do containers, wax melts, and perhaps the "brittle" mentioned. As far as colorants, I'm 100% assuming you cannot use "regular soaping colorants" but should use "colored chips" like mentioned in the kit that horsescents provided the link to?

Ok, so I know NOTHING about candlemaking, wax, and tarts, etc. I have done cold process soaps and other bath and body products for years. I think I'd LIKE to slowly delve into tarts and any other wickless products there might be with wax just for curiousity, etc. but I know that all of it isn't just a simple: melt wax and pour it kind of a thing and would never want to insult anyone by leading them to think that. I've been on this forum for over a year and have read a lot on all kinds of topics and have seen how many different types of just wax there are, let alone issues/complications with wicking, the wax not looking smooth, etc. but it's hard to read every post when you have no idea what they are even going to be about based on the title and my complete lack of knowledge so........ ARE there any books that you read when you started getting interested in candlemaking? ARE there particular threads you would recommend to read? ARE there certain supplies you would absolutely recommend to a newbie? (I saw a thread where someone mentioned a kit, but I'm not much of a "kit" person...I kinda get stuck with a "where do I go from here" thing.) In CP soap, you learn about different oils and their different characteristics and how they benefit the skin, change the nature of the soap, etc. I imagine wax has it's own thing like that....anywhere to get an initial "crash course" on that so I'm learning and understanding properly? Any and all advice/hints would be most appreciated!

Does anybody actually know or talk to Bert from the now gone Bert's Heaven Scents? I understand she had to close her business....too many issues with her supplier, trying to find inexpensive, good replacements, etc., but I'd really like to TALK to her about her struggles and see if I might even be able to pick up where she had to leave off, but I sent an email to the only address I had a few weeks ago and never got a response. Any thoughts/suggestions?

Candybee, that's what my thoughts were about the coconut oil as well. It's one of the TOP ingredients in SFIC's bases. You currently use EBC, don't you? If so, how does it respond to you adding things to it? Which base do you use, etc? I see you've joined us in the CP world as well. Your new CP soaps in the gallery are quite nice!

Okay, so I have a guy who wants to give me up to 70 gallons of biodiesel glycerin for free. Any thoughts on what I could do with this? Anyone used it before? Safety precautions? Ideas? Thoughts? Recipes? etc.????
