  1. I hear they grow mold on them eventually. So if you make them you probably wouldn't want to sell them unless you could figure out a way to prevent the mold.
  2. There you go! I completely agree with you! I might actually do the same thing! Once the scent wears out bring it back and ask for a refund, melted wax and all! I guess we could honestly say "Our melts last longer then scentsy or party lite melts".
  3. I would do the same thing! I'd like to know a place around here that sells them for $1. Is it a local store to PA only? Would you mind giving the name of the store or PMing me the name? Thanks!
  4. Paint them with candle dye, or add the fo to the candle dye and paint them. There is a post on here with pictures that shows what they look like after painted with candle dye and with the candle dye, fragrance oil mixture.
  5. Thanks! I never thought of letting them season outside. I'm going to try the epsom salt and see if it helps with the stickiness. But I'll keep in mind about leaving some outside this year to use next year.
  6. Hi has anyone ordered blanks from these two sites. Susie Bell's at http://www.wicks-wax-scents.com/airfresheners-instruction.html and AromaArt at https://www.oakcourtcreations.com/ProductCart/pc/viewCategories.asp?idCategory=15 It seems the ones at Susie Bell's are precolored so you can't color them, nor can you choose the colors. These are made from hand made paper it says on the site. On the AromaArt they seem to be uncolored blanks. Are they both the same type and texture or has anyone found one to be better then the other? Thanks!
  7. I just read somewhere to soak them in epsom salt. I wonder if that gets rid of the stickiness? We have a ton of pine trees in my state but they all seem to be of the larger variety. I did try cutting them in half but it looked a bit tacky. Does anyone dip theirs in wax before putting them in the liners? I think I am going to try that next. When you get the pine tree sap stuck to you, it's hard to get off.
  8. This is what I do too. And I absolutely agree, I don't want any re-pours if I can help it!
  9. I have a few questions about the pine cones for fire starters. I have pine cones in my yard... but they are quite large ones. Do any of you that make them, break the pine cones in half or just use them as is? Another question is they are sticky from sap from the tree. Do you try to wash the pine cones first or just use as is? The pine cones I get are from the Eastern White Pine tree.
  10. I sold 2 of my blackberries on there. A lot of people are selling on craigslist now, even those people that used to sell on ebay. Don't have to worry about all of those fees. Cell phones and other electronics are considered high risk, so they keep your funds until the buyer is happy. If the buyer complains more then likely you will lose your money. Why deal with that when you can sell it in cash? I just meet my buyers at a place with a lot of people in the area (bank, restaurant etc.). They give me cash, I give them the product, they get a good deal, I save a lot of fees. It's a clever way to sell I think!
  11. It's 5000 minimum. The gentlemen I spoke with was super nice and very professional. He definitely knows his wicks! This was with wicksunlimited.
  12. Maybe if you write down and rehearse what you are going to say first? Sometimes it helps if you feel a bit nervous, going in prepared. Write down all the main selling points of your candles (the looks, the way they burn, how many customers you have sold them to, other businesses that carry your candles, customer reviews etc.) Search on google for any, all information you can on the company. Then write down some questions you think the decision maker may ask and write down how you'll answer them. You can also use the companies motto to your advantage. For example if the company says "We pride ourselves on delivering the best items in the industry." You could say "Your company prides itself on delivering the best items in the industry. My candles are perfect for your company as they are hand made, burn well, are packaged in a neat, professional manner and well liked by my customers. For example one customer stated that my candles were highly scented and burned well. She bought every one in her family candles for the holidays. As you can see my candles are of the highest standard and fit in well with your companies motto." This is just an example and you can tailor it to the motto, goals etc of the company and your best selling features of your candles. I find I get less nervous if I practice my speech ahead of time and have answers to questions that they are most likely to ask. Good luck. I am sure your candles will be a huge hit! Keep us updated!
  13. Are you looking for soy or paraffin? I find that the Igi 4641 Pellets works well for paraffin and the Ecosoya Pillar Blend works well for soy. Have you tried adding some vybar to your wax? The waxes I've bought without additives, I always add vybar, it seems to help with the scent. Even if the wax you have states it's already has addivites, you might want to try some vybar to see if it helps?
  14. It can't hurt to try? Maybe even offer the owner (store manager) a free pillar so he/she can see what a decent candle burns like?
