  • About You
Well, my husband is in the military, so I am home alone most of the time. That's how I started making candles. I love it!
I try to not work on a regular basis at times, that's why I am a sub. teacher. I can work if I want and not work if I don't want to. I know I'm lucky in that aspect.
I'm always looking for the advice of the more experienced here. I am so greatful this board is here.

  1. I saw that from Candlewic, but I've never ordered from them before. Any issues from them? And yes, I absolutely loved the starburst pattern; it was so pretty. Not too much of a fan of the feathering pattern. Thanks so much! I really appreciate all the input
  2. thanks so much! I kind of figured as I couldn't find it anywhere...it is a shame, as that pattern was so pretty. but thank you for taking the time to answer my question Shari
  3. Hi ya'll, I haven't used in many years, but was wanting to get back into making the Starburst Palm Wax Pillars like Candlescience used to sell, the IGI R2778A. I know they discontinued it many years ago due to environmental issues, but was unsure if any other suppliers were selling, and if anyone was still using this? Has there been any issues? I'd appreciate any feedback. Thanks again, Shari
  4. Try heating your wax back up after you add FO, and stir right after you add the FO, heat, and then stir again. You FO might not be mixing completely which could lead to a clogged wick; hence your dancing flame.
  5. I usually use either the color chips, for some colors, or for red, I use peaks liquid dye. I like it better than candle science. And for 1 lb of wax, I use 6 drops of red (using the eye dropper you refer to) and then about 1 oz of FO.. Depending on scent. Are you stirring completely when you add FO? Then letting it warm back up to temp? Then stir again before pouring?
  6. Honestly I don't use the square masons, I use the regular mason jars. It seems that something is off tho.. I've never had a dancing flame to the extent that you're describing. Maybe for a minute or two, but nothing consistent. Are u just making one container at a time? Maybe the color you're using is too much or too little? And this was usually holds FO % up to 10%. Sorry, just trying to troubleshoot for you. What kind of dye are you using? Liquid? Color chips? Blocks? Anyone else have any suggestions?
  7. Sounds like it just needed some tweaking. Which ones gave you the best results, minus the flickering? Keep a record of what worked, in what container, and FO percentage and color. Then when u try a different FO, base it on that. Like pumpkin soufflé from CS heavier, then the Apple Mac, lavender is lighter..etc
  8. What size container are you working with, what% FO you using, and are you still testing the Apple Mac?
  9. Umm... You definitely know I'm interested. Lol! Will email you tmrw. Have had sick kid! You are wonderful with your ideas and craftsmanship & so kind to think of all of us!
  10. I usually bring mine to about 175, add color, warm back up to 170, & then add FO, and then warm back up to 165-170 depending on weight of the FO. the apple Macintosh your working with should be good to pour at about 168 give or take. At least that works for me.
  11. Little hot for the wax imo...do u warm your pour pot before u put your wax in it?
  12. I think Eco 8 is way to big for mason jar size. Honestly, I'd start at a 4 and you should be good with possibly going to a 6 but shouldn't be any bigger than that.
  13. For my 8 oz masons I start with LX-12 and go up from there. Also try the eco's. I've had a lot of luck with them as well. How are u warming your jars? And to what temp?
  14. I use the LX wicks with this wax, & have great success for 10+ years. The hole you are experiencing by the wick is because the room temp is too cold. Try turning up ur heat a little before pouring. I would start with the LX 14 & work ur way up from there if need be. Try warming your jars before pouring, this will eliminate most of your wet spots; however you will still see some after candle cures for about 48 hours or so. Just some tips that I thought would help. Shari
