  1. I ordered samples of the new scents with my recent order, and I can't wait to try them!
  2. Does anyone know if the 12oz status jar that genwax carries is the same as the 12oz status jar from the jar store? Genwax lists the diameter of their jar as 2.75", and the jar store lists the diameter of their jar as 3" but the heights and wax fill are exactly the same. The genwax jars are cheaper then the jar store jars that I currently use, plus the last time I checked jar store was out of stock and I need to reorder. I would call genwax but they are closed until Tuesday. If anybody has an answer I would be grateful! Thanks,
  3. I apologize for the long winded post ahead of time, I'm really unsure of how to respond to this email i got which is clearly a scam. I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post the actual e-mail message so I will just reference what this person is saying. The person says she went to mommas farmers market last week and bought candles from us. This market is a once a month market on the 3rd Saturday of every month, so we weren't there last week. Also she says she bought pillars.... we don't have pillars at any of our markets, only on our website. She says two of her lavender vanilla jar candles were broken.... the last time we were at this market we didn't bring lavender vanilla. Lastly she says that the people at the booth told her they could not do anything and to take it up with the company , I was at the booth, I didn't have anyone complain about anything let alone glass breakage, and since I am the owner I definitely would not have told her to "take it up with the company" So clearly a scammer, but how should I respond? I thought of asking her to return the broken candles (which clearly don't exist) and I would replace them, that seems like the "professional" thing to do, but I also really have the urge to call her out. What would you do?
  4. I have a votivo candle that is burned almost all the way down and the wick hasn't come loose yet (i like to test big manufacturers candles for comparison to my own). It doesn't really surprise me that they would not attach the wick. When I first started candlemaking I found that a lot of people make them that way, although I would never personally make my candles that way due to safety concerns.
  5. I like the spout lids as well, but if I have a really full bottle without a spout, I use a trick that my dad showed me. Get a skewer like the type used for making kebobs, and hold one end of it against the FO opening, while aiming the other end at your pouring pitcher. You don't want to use the whole skewer, just a few inches of if. Also, the skewer should be positioned towards the bottom of the opening where the FO will touch as its coming out. Than slowly pour your FO into the pitcher, allowing the FO to run down the skewers and into your pitcher.
  6. I like the feel of gelled soaps better, and they seem to harden up faster. I even gel milk soaps, but am very careful not to overheat them.
  7. If I remember correctly, when I tested Glass Glow tarts, they didn't release easily from the melter, but could be wiggled around a bit to pop out. Also, I seem to remember having some problems getting them to melt all the way through in low temp warmers, which I believe is what Scentsy uses? The only way to know for sure of course it to test them in a scentsy warmer, you could always add a bit of soy wax to the palm to soften it up a bit.
  8. I have had people ask me for Drakkar Type in candles, I know Candlescience carries a dupe of this. I also always loved Green Irish Tweed, I know it's not contemporary but it's a great classic masculine scent.
  9. I ordered samples as well but haven't received them yet. I only ordered the new scents however because as I realized when I ordered them, I have tried every single Candlescience FO! I love Candlescience
  10. I have had excellent results with CS Mac Apple at 8% in 464, and CS Apple Jack & Peel at only 5% using the CDN wicks. I do however add some beeswax to my 464, so that could be making a difference with the throw. I know your frustration! Soy wax can be so finicky sometimes, I swear only 1 in 10 or even 1 in 15 scents that I test actually throw strongly enough for my liking.
  11. I use a ton of Candlescience FO's in candles made with 464. I absolutely love them! I don't sell tarts yet, but I have been testing them using the Ecosoya Pillar wax using a lot of Candlescience's FO's , and so far so good.
  12. I had the same problem in 464, I really liked it oob, it was so different from the normal pine or Christmas tree smell. But unfortunately I couldn't smell it burning either.
  13. I use the same jar so I weighed an empty one for you... 360g or 12.7oz
  14. You know, the first thing I thought when I saw those was that they reminded me of the tall skinny candles you see at Walmart that have pictures of Mary and Jesus on them...
