  1. Type of Soy or Soy Blend you use? - CB advanced Additives if any? - UV inhibitor Preferred dyes? - color blocks Preferred wick? - I have had the best luck with LX wicks Pouring temp you recommend? - 120 What do you do to prevent frosting? - not a problem with this wax What do you do to prevent rough tops - not a problem with this wax Do you do anything to prevent wet spots? - No
  2. I use this wax and find you have to do a lot of testing to find fragrances that throw really well in this wax. I guess there are trade offs. The candles turn out beautiful and the cold throw is great....can you have it all? I can pick it up locally so it is super cheap. I make it work.
  3. I use Ecosoya CB Advanced and never heat my jars. My candles come out perfect. What temperature are you pouring at?
  4. I have been using the color blocks from Let it Shine and am having much better luck with them than the dye chips.
  5. I don't mean to hijack this thread but do those of you that use soy from CS also have good luck with their fos? Especially with the CB advanced? I like the way they rate how their fos do in soy.
  6. Thank you, I'll maybe try another supplier. This vanilla is Madagascar Vanilla from Scentworks and it is fabulous in soy.
  7. I guess you could make the candle brown ....yuck. What does everyone do that makes vanilla candles?
  8. Does vanilla discolor soy wax? I know it discolors soap. I made some wonderful vanilla candles with no color and they were a beautiful snow white. NOw they are turning yellow:cry2: . Is is the FO, the wax or maybe minimal exposure to sunlight? Thanks much.
  9. I bought several fo samples from Mill Creek and wasn't crazy about several of them. I just ordered the LX sample wicks and a couple of samples of their fo's. You are right about the service from Let it Shine. I have never seen a faster turnaround -- I love that.
  10. Linda, that's where I am getting my wax. I am using a pint square mason and a cotton core wick 60-44-18. Maybe it's the wick I am using. Do you think?
  11. I love florals, but good florals not overly perfumed old lady type scents. I just started making candles and I can see that finding good florals for candles is tough. I make and sell a lot of soap and lavender is number 1 every year. I have good success with magnolia, rose, lily of the valley and lilac (in that order) HTH
  12. Newbie here -- I am trying my best to make nice candles and found that that CBadvanced is beautiful wax and best of all I can pick it up locally. That being the case, I want to stick with it but find I am spending a small fortune on fragrances that don't seem to work great. I have found a couple from Mill Creek and Peaks that are okay. Any of you use this wax and have found some reliable fo's for it? Any suggestions appreciated.
