    ornies

Do your ornies come out kind of uneven or rough looking around the edges? They come out of the cookie cutters easily and have the cutter shape. Really am enjoying playing with these but no matter how careful I am putting the beads into the cookie cutters they just look bad, with parts beads sticking up some places more than others. I'm baking at 350 for 5 minutes. I've tried trimming a bit but this stuff is hard to cut.
  2. Planning on making a bride and groom for a dear friend and found the outfits online. My friend called the site about ordering them and told the lady why she wanted them, she told her that she shouldn't use them on wax dipped bears because they could get moldy and mildew. I've been making the bears for some time now and have never heard of this before.Just wondering if this has ever been an issue with you bear makers.
  3. Had to wick up a bit to an lx 18 which seems really big, but its working well. No torch at all, sides are nice and clean, stll debating on the ht but after smelling the same scent for over a week I dont trust my nose, I'm using CS wicks and I would swear their LX's are smaller than the ones I've ordered before from BCN.
  4. Why not try mixing them?I mix a bit of 464 in my ky tart wax and love the results, smooth tops, great ct and ht, colors well. Unfortunately I cant give you a specific amount. I use a turkey fryer and through trail and error, I have found that covering about an inch or so of the bottom with 464 and filling the rest of the way with ky wax gives me the results I'm looking for. If I had to guess Id say about 5-6 cups melted 464 to about 20 lbs of ky. So its a small amount. Too much 464 makes it too hard to remove from tart melters and makes to throw less. Ky wax is now sold by rustic essentals I think, I havent had to buy any since ky closed.
  5. Found cute ones at sherryssoycandles in case anyone else is looking
  6. We only have a hobby lobby near us and couldnt find anything there. I did find bride and groom stuff at buildabear.com but couldnt find the info on what size bear it would fit. I was afraid it would be for 15 inch and swallow my 7 inch bears whole What size bears do you use?
  7. got a request from a dear friend for her daughters bridal shower. Has anyone ever done these? I'm having a hard time finding the accessories.
  8. The LX burned perfectly on the first candle which was scented with bite me from NG. Now the ones I tested today didn't do so well. One was all hallows eve from bcn and the other was candy corn from alabasters. Both didn't get a full melt pool and tunneled. So remelted them to try another wick. great CT but no HT to speak of even leaning over the candles. After I blew out the wick and the smoke cleared I could smell them, but while burning in 12x12 rooms 3 hours nothing. I'm not sure if I should try the next size up because even though they tunneled the flame seemed to be a nice size, but I guess since I poured 2 testers of each I have enough candles to try and see what happens. Well if nothing else at least I know I can make an awesome Bite Me candle.
  9. Haven't put it in a candle yet but in tarts it was so strong I had to open the windows and one warmer scented the whole house! It has a wonderful scent, think it's my new favorite.
  10. OOB BCN north almost made me gag. To me it smells like old grease or spoiled ham. I was hoping for a maple cured smell. Had my husband, sons and daughter in laws smell it and none of then guessed bacon all of them thought it stunk, lol. I'm still going to give it a try but plan on mixing it with pancake and maple syrup before I give up on it.
  11. Sorry for posting then disappearing. My elderly parents have moved in with us and I don't have as much computer time as I used to. Yes its the blend mentioned here. I finally finished testing the whole candle and its crazy but it seemed to get stronger each day I burned it,The only reason I can think of is because I started burning it so soon and it cured more while testing. Never did frost. Burned perfectly from start to finish. I poured 2 more scents yesterday 2 candles each scent because I knew I wouldn't be able to stand waiting 5 days to test. jeanie353 the wick that worked for me was CS LX 14 for an 8oz sq mason jar I know most people use CD wicks but for some reason I choose this one. Honestly I want to concerned about wick choice because I figured it would never work anyway. And I'm sorry but I made a mistake with the ratio I when I typed it. It wasn't 30/70% It was 3oz TCS wax and 13 oz 464 I was so excited when I started this thread I didn't realise what I had typed. I have no idea where I got those numbers.
  12. After years and years and years of playing around with candles and no matter what I did not getting one to burn right. I would test and test and get disgusted and stop. It was always either no CT, light HT at first then nothing and never could seem to get the right wick. They never looked good with color too much frosting......tried adding co, crisco, standing on my head when pouring while chanting, "Cant we all just get along?''.....nothing worked... BUT I think I finally found what works for me ( knock on wood ) I mixed CS wax with my 464 @ 30/70 and the 2nd day it was throwing like crazy got excited and tried a test burn awesome HT I'm on my 3rd burn and so far its perfect! ( knock on wood again) Colors good no frosting at all so far, but at the max pp of peaks liquid I was hoping for deeper color, but still no frosting:yay:. I just cant stop looking at this candle I'm so happy.
  13. Thx sbs. I took samples to him today and gave him a price of 2.50 per clamshell and 22.00 per waxed dipped bears and 15.00 and 18.00 for tart warmers ( candlewarmers.com ) He was happy with the price and made the bear order and warmers. He'll call me later today with the tart order. I'm excited and terrified at the same time, lol
  14. Sorry I know it's a question that's been asked hundreds of times. Going to split it to 2.50 each and see how it goes.
