  1. That's what I'm gonna start back up with possibly this year. Shows just haven't been worth it for a while and show organizers were letting too many manufactures into the craft shows to make money. Around there the less expensive the better for what people can buy and if the stuff smells good, has long lasting scent people will buy those for a few cents then paying several dollars for a candle especially since they can get several different smells for the money. Plus they are just so easy to make can do several hundred in a day and nearly impossible to mess up when running around trying to do everything else that needs to get done.
  2. Ditto the goodness of Candle Science. I have never ordered from C&S and probably never will. Stopped ordering from BC long ago. I haven't ordered wax in a long time but they are the ones that I would go with except for soy that I get from EL. Once back from my trip I'm gonna see what prices are and may at least stock up a bit while the prices are lowering. Gas prices have been well under $2 here for awhile but over the last week it's been slowly going back up so just never know.
  3. Etsy is really crowed with craft stuff. I wouldn't bother with any of them.
  4. There's a spray too that works to do the barrier thing too. The husband works with mechanics and it's the silicone stuff only in a spray can. The "yes to carrots" stuff works good. Walgreen's carries it and Burt's Bees has some good thick hand cream that's long lasting because of the beeswax that's in it.
  5. You do have to be careful with plastic because the microwave stuff does break down...even putting them in the dishwasher does it. It's the heat...that's why they tell people to never to use plastic for heating food in the microwaves because of the chemicals. It's a shame the those glass pieces are breaking. Pyrex had always been known for being these great long lasting products and 2 minutes in a microwave doesn't seem like much. I threw out my microwave years ago so if I do anything I just use the double boiler.
  6. Last time I made votives I used the stardust palm from CS No re pours, they popped right out of the molds, got nice crystal designs but was working on wicking...other then fiddling with that they were good to go. I believe the wicks I was trying were the CSN that CS sells and the LX series.
  7. Yep, I got that one too. Just waiting till after our vacation and now that things seem to be coming down I may actually be able to start making stuff again.:smiley2:
  8. Found another site. http://www.batteryoperatedcandles.net/tea-lights.html This one is more expensive but has more variety in terms of color.
  9. Try here at Oriental Trading. http://www.orientaltrading.com/ui/search/processRequest.do?No=0&D=candle&Ntt=candle&Ntk=all&Dx=mode%2bmatchallpartial&Ntx=mode%2bmatchallpartial&N=0&requestURI=searchMain Just scroll through the page here and there are a few different kinds. There's tea light ($12.99 per dozen)and there are some votive size ones ($14.99 per dozen). I have not ordered these from here so not sure how they actually are in terms of quality but I have ordered other things from there without a problem. HTH
  10. You can find those cheap on ebay. You can put them in a warmer if you want or can fill up votive cups or other containers, wick them and have "sand" candles. Wicking won't be exact but it's not too bad if you stick with smaller containers.
  11. Does anyone feel it cleans the air like they say? We all have allergies here and one of the sites said these are suppose to clean the air and help with allergies. I have some citrus EOs and those are suppose to help so I thought this may be a way to help freshen the air.?
  12. I think Swan's also sells the square ones too. They are cute especially if you make them into what looks like apple bakes or blueberry pies.
  13. They are cute but it's another MLM :/ They say you can earn 30% commision on items so my guess would be that the warmers would cost $17.50 each if you sign up.
  14. I don't like 'em. Maybe it's cause I don't drink but they just don't strike me as anything special. They're just bottles with the tops cut off....no real talent there. I guess with everything that I know I have put into making candles and what others do to be unique, different, creative whatever, this just doesn't strike me as... well.... anything. Plus we all know, not only what a PITA labels are but how much thought and care goes into making those freakin' things, that it's insulting really that he's using those labels (cause that is the draw of his candles) to make money. He had nothing to do with their creation and what they represent for the companies. If just one of those candles have a problem people could very well go after the company who's name is on the bottle. I know that some of those companies have their name/product in many areas so people could very easily assume that these are just another extension on those liquor companies. Not only is he using their creativity of the labels/bottles but he is also riding the coat tails of all the advertising etc. Really he had to do no "work" for his product which is a slap to all the really try hard.
  15. The cupcake is too cute. Bless ya for being able to work in minitures it's really hard to do (at least for me lol).....
