  1. Thank you! I may give another paraffin wax a try or just find a better pre-made wax. CD 4 or 6 are WAY too hot except in the heavy fall fragrances. I have some FO's that are burning super hot even with a CDN 4, so I've had to try HTP 62. I thought that adding some additional paraffin would help to allow me to keep the CD's but it hasn't helped at all with the 4630. Oh the joys of chandling 🤪
  2. What wick series did you have the best results with in 130? I find that CD's are like torches at any size in this wax. Seems like HTP's burn cooler but the HT isn't as outstanding as with the CD's. I switched to this from 6006 because it just got too "unpredictable" but now I'm having second thoughts.
  3. What I would give for someone to solve this mystery that has plagued my candles for 4 years. I use CBL 130 and I blend in a little 4630 paraffin for better scent throw. Call me crazy but it's a good blend. I use 7-8% FO. I heat my jars. I cool them in the jar box. I cool them out of the box. I pray. And this happens 90% of the time. The remainder of the wax pulls away beautifully from the jar except for this stripe. There's no consistency of it being on the jar seam, etc. Help!!
  4. I was the first person to review this fragrance on Flaming back in 2018--it does not smell at all like marijuana!!!! It is a gorgeous, sultry scent. You must try it!!
  5. Hi everyone! I'm a long time container candle maker, but for "fun" I tried my hand at pillar candle making. It's always good to learn something new, but with every type of candle there are things that happen in the process that need some explanation. I used 4045H, used 30 ply wick, heated to 195; added 7 drops of green dye and 1% vybar at 190 degrees, then fragrance oil 5% (I will definitely reduce this to 3% on the next go round) at 185 degrees. I poured into an aluminum pillar mold 3"X6" at 175 degrees. I cooled for 2 hours and then poked relief holes and did my repour. I then cooled 24 hours. I don't think it mottled quite as much as I'd like and there are some white spots on the bottom which look like they may have come from the repour for some reason. Although I did a repour, the bottom is still dimpled. Any feedback/guidance would be greatly appreciated!!
  6. I have used those jars in the past with 6006 and used a CD 8 for most fragrances.
  7. I use CD 4 on this jar and I use this same jar from CS. With heavier fall scents, I sometimes have to wick up to a CD 6 after testing.
  8. I order items from them and they are always quick to ship and provide excellent customer service. You have to be careful with them because they run out of stock on items frequently.
  9. I'm hoping this conversation has come to an awkward by necessary ending
  10. I love your post--thank you for being so open, honest and transparent. We ALL feel this way whether novice or seasoned in this craft. Just when you think you've got it nailed, something will just change for NO GOOD REASON. It keeps you from getting cocky
  11. The reason these wet spots bother me SO much is because they just started showing up recently even though I'm using the same technique in the same studio. It's extremely frustrating to try to fix something when you have no idea what's causing it. I thought I had this remedied by pouring in the box with the dividers but that lasted for one batch. If I had these silly things from the start then it would just be what it is. I really hate that they have also started showing up in the clear glass jar candles--that really looks horrible.
  12. I use this scent as the signature scent for candles for my biggest customer; of course I renamed it. This is a huge seller and let me tell you, it is STRONG!! You can back way off on your FO% with this one. It is a pricey FO but worth it if you want a powerhouse thrower. BTW, I purchase from Flaming (their formula is not skin safe so purchase from another vendor if you want to use it in body products).
  13. That is interesting.....I've just started testing Problend 600 and I have not had this experience. Are you letting it cool somewhere that is away from a heat source blowing on it?
  14. After taking a deep breath and walking away from my studio for a few hours yesterday, I decided to try this. I poured at 170 and poured with the jars in the box they were shipped in with the dividers. Can you even believe it? It worked. No lines. Really pretty candles. Thank you everyone for all of your suggestions and for listening and actually caring! The wet spots might come back which means I better get them delivered to my customers before that happens.
  15. Thanks for the suggestion--I was thinking the same thing. I used to pour that hot and then to prevent sinkholes I started pouring cooler. Now I don't have sinkholes but I have wet spots. I love this craft
  16. So I poured 6 candles in my amber jars last night and used the Koozie technique. Can you believe that the lines are even worse now???!!! I'm ready to beat my head against the wall. Starting to wonder if it's a glass issue? So hard to fix a candle problem when you don't know what's causing it. I will not be defeated!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  17. Wow--that's fantastic!! I have been using pieces of felt that I wrap around and sometimes those work but where the felt overlaps where I wrap it around causes the pull away I believe, because it's double insulated. Hope that makes sense. Any idea where I can purchase this silver insulation? I would be fantastic to use for all of my different sized jars. Thanks for sharing!!
  18. I just ordered the Dickens Christmas (16 oz based on the amazing reviews), got it in yesterday and already poured a 13 oz red calypso jar and melts to test. I haven't been this excited about a FO in a LONG time. I guess I've just gotten bored with the run of the mill scents. This scent is truly amazing. Notes of clove, orange, cinnamon.........not heavy or sweet. I love it. I also love the Drunken Pumpkin--different and complex yet so simple. I also blend the LS Twilight Woods with FC Warm Vanilla Sugar for a scent that constantly sells out; smooth and fresh. On a different note from another supplier, my all time favorite is "Fig Tree" from FC. Please try it if you haven't. Heaven.
  19. Holy moly--------the fridge trick is the bomb!!!! TT you are my new hero! Why does that fix it???
  20. Thank you!! As luck would have it I went right by a Dollar Tree after I saw your post. Unfortunately, even though it's still 98 degrees in central Texas, they don't have any Koozies right now. Neither did Walmart. I found some on Amazon--I'll give those a whirl. If that doesn't work these will work great for holding a cocktail while I'm figuring out this dilemma. The freezer tip did work-----love it.
