  1. I purchased oils from them a few years back, just for personal use in lotions, cuticle oils etc. Thought they were great. This holiday season I purchased Orange Spice for candle making. I use Naturewax C3, and at 9% it is a total knockout! My whole apartment smelt heavenly from a 7oz candle! I went back and bought a bunch more, because ppl can’t get enough of it 🙂
  2. And whilst I’m at it, here is a video of one of the amber jars. You can see some slight imperfections (air bubble and dirt trapped under the paint) and the color variation. I didn’t have one with wax, so I just rolled up a piece of paper so you get an idea. Pls ignore the sound, my son is watching his iPad right next to me 😬 On closer inspection, the red and the amber jars are coated on the outside! Sorry. Ahh, it won’t let me upload a video, so here are the pics. I can email mail it to you if you like. Or you can DM me on IG: Mrsluckyboy85, and I can send it to you.
  3. Here is a comparison of the 10oz and the 22oz white.
  4. Personally I love the white, especially for the price! The pink 22oz in the store photo is pretty true to life from memory. Sorry I only have a white at home. When I went to the store last week, they also had light grey, which I have not seen on their website. I’ve attached some pics for you to see. Just a word of caution. I think these are a seasonal product. It might be worth checking with them. And it’s a heavy solid jar, 21.9 oz empty, so shipping could be pricey. It’s a nice jar though. You can see the light taper in the pic, but it’s a tumbler style.
  5. Do you mean the Monticiano 10oz? They have them in white, red, amber and black. The red is usually pretty good. I have seen them at times with sand like grit in the paint at the bottom of the container, but as I hand pick mine they are usually ok. Also, the white are sold as imperfect only atm. The lady at the store told me they are still perfecting the white, and atm they are not 100%. I have personally bought a huge amount of the white. There is usually only a tiny bit of paint on the outside, which is easy to remove with rubbing alcohol or acetone or just scratch it off it your nails! So at $0.25 they are a bargain. The red, amber and white are coated on the inside of the container. I have not bought the black so I am not sure on those. They sell the pink in the 22oz size, and they are a beautiful jar, very nice quality. Wish they had lids though 😩
  6. General Wax in California sells them. They are reasonably priced at .99 cents each. The quality can be a bit hit and miss. I have found some batches a bit uneven in paint thickness, so shows up patchy. I try to stick my label on to cover the worst section! Also, I just tested a batch where I dyed my wax a creamy coffee color, and that helped 😄
  7. I have not purchased wax from here, but oils, wicks and tins. John the owner is super nice and very helpful. I went in there a few months ago. We chatted for an hour about candle making, and I picked up lots of tips, as I’m new to it. I would recommend this store.
  8. Wow I would never have thought of using beeswax! What an amazing idea, I have a 1 pound block hanging around at home that I use to make lotion, I’m definitely going to give it a try! Thank you 😊
  9. I am about to start testing with UV inhibitor, which I picked up yesterday. So that is going to be a whole new ball game 😬. I finally decided I want to color my candles, and don’t want fading. Let’s see how that goes 😁
  10. I really appreciate all your help and advice, and taking the time to reply! I am mainly using C3 because when I started to get interested in candle making, about 6 months ago, all the suppliers were out of wax! Plus General Wax is only about 20 minutes drive from my house, and that is their main soy wax. It’s great not having to pay shipping costs. In my very limited knowledge, and with nothing to compare it to 😁 except store bought candles, I found it ok. I only make soy container candles. I finally found that Eco wicks worked well for me, in this type of wax. I tried HTP, which is what General wax recommended, I tried CD and finally settled on Eco. Least amount of mushrooms and flickering, and it produces a nice even flame. In a 10oz (7oz of wax) 3 inch straight sided tumbler, I found ECO 8 to be the best. I usually use between 6-9% fragrance per pound of wax. The HT and CT is usually pretty good. I tested 26 fragrances from Natures Garden, and sadly didn’t find that many winners. About 5-10 that I would consider to be good HT’s. However, I’ve found that out of all the oils I purchased from General Wax, the HT is great. Their oils are pretty expensive in my opinion compared to NG, but if I’m using less per pound and am producing a good candle I would be happy to sell, then it’s worth it. Their Lemon Verbena is my absolute favorite, it’s a punch in the face it’s so strong 😆 I also found thay that if I pour at 140 the tops usually need no touch ups and adhesion is pretty good, even without warming the jars.
  11. Thank you so much! That’s what I was wondering, if it’s even worth attempting. I will try it, and if it seems that there is not much benefit, then I will leave it out. I’m about 6 months into my testing, and not planning on selling any time soon.
  12. I have a question in regards to adding Stearic acid to soy container candles. I currently use Naturewax C3 which has a melt point of 127 degrees Fahrenheit, but am concerned about low melt point for shipping over summer months. Would adding Stearic acid increase the melt point? If so, does anyone know how much by? How much Stearic to add? Also, is Stearic acid for candle making the same as for lotion making? I’m just wondering if it is worth it and would make enough of a difference to warrant adding it. When I asked at General Wax, where I buy my wax, the lady behind the counter suggested a Paraffin Blend. Thank you in advance 🙌
  13. Thank you all so much for your replies! Yes very interesting, great video, and since I’m new to candle making I have no clue what chemical that could be 🤔 I did feel slightly better when after a two hour burn, there was a mushroom! I thought it was only my feeble attempts at candle making that resulted in mushrooms 😁
  14. Thank you so much, i really appreciate your reply, I am going to place an order. I actually just went and purchased the Chesapeake candle from Target 😬 It’s has a light Hot and Cold Throw, but the scent itself it heavenly!
