  1. Seems to me the only ones gossiping about Peaks are you guys. Everyone else is over it and has moved on, including the people who were involved. If you like their fo's get em if they are having a deal. The truth is that anyone of the suppliers you buy from could go out of business for any reason at anytime. This is an ever changing business, from the fo's we buy to the waxes and glass we buy, when the companies I like have deals , I buy from them, it's simple, no reason to once again bring up a very painful time for the company, the people who owned it and the people who worked there. JMO .
  2. I use this wax with zincs, I think you probably are spot on with the 51 zinc and this jar. How long was your first burn that created all this mushrooming. You will get mushrooming with zincs, but if you are getting a clean burn and excellent scent throw just embrace it. I use this wax , wick combo and have never had a complaint about mushrooming.
  3. Yes try zinc, for that jar, probably a 51.
  4. I went dye free a couple of years ago, container candles only, I have had no decrease in sales of containers.
  5. I'm with you Pam, Candle Tech and Peaks, specifically both Alan and Nachelle were so good to many of us and encouraged and helped us in so many ways in the early days. I probably would not have been in business without them. And their fragrances were and will be awesome always, I mean if you look at facebook, everybody who dupes fo's is trying to dupe Peak's, there is a reason for that, because everyone wants s piece of that pie. I did not read anywhere that Keystone bought the rights to Peak's formulas, what I read was that they bought a warehouse full of stock from Peak's. I don't recall them ever saying that they had any exclusive at all. I think that was a misunderstanding. They knew exactly what they were doing when they bought that warehouse full of inventory, they were buying quality product because they knew they could profit from it. Nothing wrong with that, it's business. I closed my business about 8 years ago in the middle of a divorce, it is not an easy thing to do, everyone in that situation makes mistakes, some of my customers were disappointed , some orders I was unable to fufill, it happens, no one ever means for it to happen, but sometimes things have to erupt for the needed change to happen. Everyone survives. There is no morality at issue, being human can be hard . Divorce is a hard thing to get through. It is very hard to separate things , business and personal, when both of those things are so tied up in each other. The world is not perfect. I have a lot of compassion for all involved in this situation. For me, the old board will always be here in this board, losing Vicky was a huge blow, the history here for many of us is very near and dear. I hope that Alan can make a go of things, Peak's was and awesome business, hopefully , in it's new form it will be again, I wish all of them the best.
  6. Hi pcbrook, I am specifically talking about palm oil. Sorry if I got off track. Palm wax is made from palm oil. The forests are being cut down and burned to provide cleared land for palm trees. The entire rain forest and habitat for the wild animals is being destroyed to produce palm oil.
  7. Harvesting palm oil is a huge issue for many reasons. It is important to do some research before purchasing palm oil and foods made with palm oil. I don't use palm in any of my soaping products anymore because of the way it impacts the environment , animals, and health. There are some vids on you tube that you can watch on the Lueser Ecosystem in Asia that gives a good snap shot of what happens when we harvest palm oil forests. There is an industry now growing conflict free palm oil and it's a responsibility I think, if we want a healthy world for our children and grand children that we demand industries keep our enviornment healthy. Once a palm oil forest is cut it is then burned to the ground which releases tons of carbon into the air that we breath. It's real , it's happening and it's scary as hell. The impact it is having on orangatans and all animals is heart breaking and very very real.
  8. Yes Woman!!!! Another beautiful soap !!!! Can't wait to see it cut!!!
  9. I used 6006 for years. I ended up using zinc wicks, they always worked best. I always poured at around 180 and always did a repour did not poke holes.
  10. My guess is the fo. You really don't need to add vybar to 6006 , it has all the additives already. Try making the candles without the vybar and see what happens. My guess , you have to wick up with the Dragon's Blood.
  11. For me it just makes sense to list the actual ingredients in each batch , listing from highest to lowest amount. I also put the name of the soap and the net. wt of each bar on the label.
