  1. I made another one and heated the mold before I poured the wax. No cracks this time. But still a little wax to clean out before I could take the insert out. And I found that using a pair of pliers pulled it right out. I'm using the same silicone insert with a screw and concave molds. How tight do you tighten the screw?
  2. I want to make candles using a silicone tealight insert I bought from a company. You insert it in the mold before pouring the wax. I made one and when I took it out of the mold, I had to pry the insert out of the wax. And there were cracks on the candle. And wax got under the insert. I used a concave seamless mold. Has anyone done this and had any success. I'm using pillar Palm wax.
  3. I have a friend who orders a lot of Eucalyptus tarts. The Eucalyptus scent came from Mr. Missy's. She loves it because it is so strong. I sent her samples from two different companies, but she said they are not strong enough. Does anyone know of a company with a strong Eucalyptus scent. Or maybe someone has some Mr Missy's Eucalyptus scent for sale. Ordering samples is getting expensive. Not the cost of the bottle but the shipping.
  4. I'm looking for a strong and true Eucalyptus Scent like Mr Missy's used to sell. Thanks for any suggestions.
  5. I am going to start making votives using pillar palm wax. I use zinc wicks. Does anyone know what size zinc wick I need to use to make a votives burn right?
  6. I made one and it came out of the mold okay. It has a wide base. I'm just wondering how fragile it will be to sell to people.
  7. I am thinking of using pillar palm wax in a 2-pice rubber mold. It makes a cactus with two arms. I am wondering how strong the candle will be. Any comments?
  8. I used zinc wicks and they work fine. I use the 51-31-18 zin wick for my 3" diameter pillar candles.
  9. Does anyone make cupcake candles using whipped IGI 4630 wax for the icing. And if you do, do you ship any to customers. If so, how do you pack them so they make it with the icing intact.
  10. Thanks for the info. What I need is an embed that is about 1" tall. Very small.
  11. Thanks for the replies. What I need is a very small embed mold. Probably no more than 1" long.
  12. Does anyone know where I can buy a small dragon embed mold. I want to make these and put them on top of icing on cupcake candles.
  13. I am making jumbo cupcakes for my class reunion. Our mascot is a purple dragon. Does anyone know where I can find a dragon embed mold. I had one years ago but sold it with supplies. Of course, now I need it. I want to make these and put them on top of the icing.
  14. Okay, this is a new one for all of you. I have a potential customer that wants pillar candles that smoke a lot. He says the smoke from the burning candle does something he likes on paints when he puts them on canvas. I never thought I'd get a request for a smoking candle. We have all strived to make a candle that does not smoke, or not too much, anyway. So, what do I put in the candle to make it smoke like a smoke stack. Bigger wick, more scent. He said a lady in Chicago dipped the wick in something to make it smoke. Any ideas ladies?
  15. Okay, I'm getting ready to make some Heart chunk candles for Valentine's Day. I made them last year and they sold out. I forgot to write down what wax I used for the over pour. I have IGI 1274 and IGI 1284 wax. Which one is best to be able to see the chunks. I also have a slab of IGI 1313 wax I've never used. Would this wax be better than the other two?
  16. When I first started making candles 15 years ago, Candlewic was the supplier I started with. Their scents are reasonably priced and very strong. I still order from them from time to time.
  17. This may seem strange to some, but this is what I do for the round molds. Might also work for the square molds. I use the lids off the peanut butter, the 28oz size or larger. I put plumbers putty in the lid and then put the mold in and turn it until it is tight and then level it before pouring the wax. This method also keeps any leaks from happening. I keep the lids filled with plumbers putty in zip lock bags to keep the putty soft.
  18. Woo Hoo!!!! It worked, Stella. Ran hot water over the mold and the candle came right out. Thank you very much.
  19. Sorry Della. I read your reply too fast. I'll try the hot water.
  20. I just checked. They still won't come out. Can I submurge the mold in hot water, not boiling but about 180 degrees. I'll try running lot water over the mold in the sink.
  21. I have them in the freezer now and will take them out tomorrow. It's bedtime. Hope it works.
  22. Okay, I did a really stupid thing today. I'm making heart candles using feather palm wax and 2-piece plastic molds. This particular wax was suppose to be pillar but I think I got container. So, I've been putting stearic in the wax so it will come out of the molds. Been doing this for a year. Today, my brain went south, and I forgot to put the stearic in. Now I have two heart molds with wax stuck in them. Any suggestions how to get the wax out without ruining the plastic molds. If it was a metal mold, I could put it in a pot on the stove and melt the wax out. But this is plastic, and the opening is really small. Too small to dig out with a knife. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I only have two molds and Valentine's Day is coming up.
