My name is Brianna, and I found my passion through Aveda's Esthetics (skin care) program, which I graduated from in 2009. I'm a licensed esthetican and I began working in the spa industry shortly after. This was also during the peak of our economic crisis, and let's face it, one of the first things people stopped doing was getting their regular spa treatments. After much thought, I eventually went back to working full-time at our family business which my dad owns, and still do that today.

  1. Thanks so much you guys for all of the encouragement! Vicky you hit the nail on the head - I am being a little impatient. I just need to remember to keep doing the right things and wait for things to fall into place. I'm going to plan an open house and see how that goes, and hopefully get some home parties booked from that. Thanks again!
  2. What's your name? Brianna How old are you? 29 Where do you live? Concord (Charlotte area), North Carolina How long have you been making candles/soap/whatever? About 1.5 years How did you get started making candles/soap/whatever? I'm a licensed esthetician and have been in the skin care/spa industry since 2009. I LOVE crafting and decided to try making some M&P soap. I was hooked and my business was born soon after. Are you married? Any kids? Married, have an 11 year old daughter If candle/Soap making isn't your primary job, what do you do? I'm a Logistics Coordinator for my family's consulting company (my Dad owns it), but I also put full-time hours in to my business Anything else we should know? I'm a new business owner and I am DETERMINED to make this work. I refuse to give up no matter what!
  3. Hello All, I started my luxury home & body business in June of 2013. One one hand, our business has be very well received by everyone who has tried our products. The only issue with this is we have very limited exposure given that we are an online shop. I did a Christmas Craft Show at a local downtown shop with many other vendors. Not many people showed up and only two vendors sold anything. Luckily I was one of them - and I actually sold to EVERYONE who took a sample or came to our booth. Only the people who didn't stop walked away empty-handed. I was so proud of our first show and decided we HAD to do more to get our product out there. To try and help that problem, I took advantage of the opportunity to open a booth in our local antique mall. It has a monthly booth rent of about $135. I figured all I needed to do was really get the product in front of people...last month was our first month, and we only sold $45 all month. Eight days into this month and we still haven't sold any product. The antique mall is also sort of new so I'm hoping that's what it is....but now I find myself wondering if I'm doing the right things to make my business a success. We have a Facebook page, with 150+ likes, but it gets little to no response when I post. I'm even holding a 40% off sale for the seasonal items on my site - it will be over in 2 days and once again...nothing. I've started putting things together to start doing home parties and I'm considering more craft shows as well. My question to y'all is...what is the BEST advice you can give me as a new business owner in order to properly grow my business? Is there anything you feel I could be doing differently? Thanks SO MUCH in advance!
