Honey Soap W Beeswax & Honey ~ How to get that great scent?!

Recommended Posts

I want to make a CP Honey Soap with real honey and yellow beeswax.

I want a real honey/beeswax smell to it, in the final result.

I haven't added beeswax to soap before. Where does it fit into the soap equation? As a hard oil? What's the maximum %?

Should I add the honey in with the lye water, and at trace as well?

What is the maximum grams of honey for let's say a 2 lbs recipe?

Thanks for any help possible. -Tasha

I'm not sure how much help I'll be to ya, but I'll give it a shot. ;-)

First off, you're gonna LOVE a honey soap! The smell is indeed awesome & yummy. I add anywhere from 1T - 1 1/2 T of honey ppo in my recipe. As for beeswax, I've never used it personally, but if I were to add it, I'd figure it in as a hard oil. Maybe somebody who's soaped with it can chime in with the benefits of it & the percentage to use. Hope that helps a little bit!

Edited to add: I add my honey at trace with no problems getting it mixed in.

I have never made a soap with honey before but I have made soap using beeswax. Here is the recipe:

14 oz water

5 oz lye

6 oz of beeswax

4 oz coconut oil

2 oz palm oil

28 oz olive oil

Melt the beeswax with the coconut and palm oils, then blend in the olive oil. My directions day to heat or cool to 150 degrees then mix with lye. I don't remember if I mixed at this temp. It seems kinda high to me but when making soap with beeswax you can't let the oils cool down to much because the beeswax will cause the oils to firm up again.

The recipe make a very hard bar with lots of lather. I am going to try it again and add honey this time.
